[1454] One who does not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya) — does that one not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya)?
The person endowed with the highest path (aggamaggasamaṅgī) does not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion, but it is not that he does not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit. Except for the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons do not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion and do not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit.
Or rather, one who does not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit — does that one not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion?
The person endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimaggasamaṅgī) does not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit, but it is not that he does not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion. Except for the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons do not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit and do not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion.
One who does not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion — does that one not fully understand the latent tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya) … the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya)?
