[1483] One who does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya), the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya), the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya), and the latent tendency of view (diṭṭhānusaya) from any (place) — does that person not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya) from that (place)?

Or rather, one who does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt from any (place) — does that person not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view from that (place)?
The person endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimagga), in regard to painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā): that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt, the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view from that (place); but it is not the case that that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of repulsion from that (place). That same person, in regard to the two feelings in the sensual element (kāmadhātu): that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view from that (place); but it is not the case that that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust from that (place). That same person, in regard to the form element (rūpadhātu), the formless element (arūpadhātu), and the not-included (apariyāpanna): that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt from that (place), and does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view. The person endowed with the highest path (aggamagga), in regard to the two feelings in the sensual element, the form element, and the formless element: that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt, the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, and the latent tendency of view from that (place); but it is not the case that that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of conceit from that (place). That same person, in regard to painful feeling and the not-included: that person does not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt from that (place), and does not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view. Excepting the persons endowed with the two paths and the eighth person (aṭṭhamaka), the remaining persons, everywhere, do not fully understand the latent tendency of doubt, and do not fully understand the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of view. …
