[1006] For whomever, wherever, the joy faculty (somanassindriya) will not arise — for that one, there, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) not arise?
Those immediately after whose mind (citta) the final mind (pacchimacitta) associated with equanimity will arise — for them, there, the joy faculty will not arise; but it is not the case that for them, there, the equanimity faculty will not arise. Those endowed with the final mind, and non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for them, there, both the joy faculty will not arise and the equanimity faculty will not arise.
Or, conversely: for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will not arise — for that one, there, will the joy faculty not arise?
Those immediately after whose mind the final mind associated with joy will arise — for them, there, the equanimity faculty will not arise; but it is not the case that for them, there, the joy faculty will not arise. Those endowed with the final mind, and non-percipient beings — for them, there, both the equanimity faculty will not arise and the joy faculty will not arise.
