[1281] For whomever, wherever, the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) arose, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one there?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those men who, having been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāna): for them the masculinity faculty arose there, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there. For the other sense-sphere beings: for them both the masculinity faculty arose there and the equanimity faculty will arise there.
Or alternatively, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will arise, did the masculinity faculty arise for that one there?
For form-sphere (rūpāvacara) beings and formless-sphere (arūpāvacara) beings: for them the equanimity faculty will arise there, but the masculinity faculty did not arise for them there. For sense-sphere beings: for them both the equanimity faculty will arise there and the masculinity faculty arose there.
