[916] For whomever, wherever, the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) will arise, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one there?
Those males (purisa) who, having manifested some number of existences in that very state, having been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) — for them, there, the masculinity faculty will arise, but for them, there, the equanimity faculty will not arise. For the other sense-sphere (kāmāvacara) beings — for them, there, both the masculinity faculty will arise and the equanimity faculty will arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will arise, will the masculinity faculty arise for that one there?
Beings of the form sphere (rūpāvacara), beings of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and those females (itthī) who, having manifested some number of existences in that very state, having been reborn with equanimity (upekkhā), will attain final Nibbāna — for them, there, the equanimity faculty will arise, but for them, there, the masculinity faculty will not arise. For the other sense-sphere beings — for them, there, both the equanimity faculty will arise and the masculinity faculty will arise.
