[1379] One who will abandon the grief faculty (domanassindriya) — will he develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty (anaññātaññassāmītindriya)?
Four persons will abandon the grief faculty but will not develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty. Those ordinary persons (puthujjana) who will obtain the path (magga) will both abandon the grief faculty and develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty.
Or rather, one who will develop the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty — will he abandon the grief faculty?
