Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1450

[1450] Whoever did not abandon the grief faculty (domanassindriya), will that one not develop the perfect-knowledge faculty (aññindriya)? Six persons did not abandon the grief faculty, but it is not that they will not develop the perfect-knowledge faculty. Those ordinary persons (puthujjanā) who will not obtain the path (magga) — they did not abandon the grief faculty and will not develop the perfect-knowledge faculty. Or rather, whoever will not develop the perfect-knowledge faculty, did that one not abandon the grief faculty? Two persons will not develop the perfect-knowledge faculty, but it is not that they did not abandon the grief faculty. Those ordinary persons who will not obtain the path — they will not develop the perfect-knowledge faculty and did not abandon the grief faculty.
