[1451] "Whoever did not abandon the grief faculty (domanassindriya), will that one not realize the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya)?"
Six persons did not abandon the grief faculty, but it is not that they will not realize the perfect-knower faculty. Those ordinary persons (puthujjanā) who will not obtain the path (magga) — they did not abandon the grief faculty, and they will not realize the perfect-knower faculty.
"Or rather, whoever will not realize the perfect-knower faculty, did that one not abandon the grief faculty?"
The Arahant (arahā) will not realize the perfect-knower faculty, but it is not that he did not abandon the grief faculty. Those ordinary persons who will not obtain the path — they will not realize the perfect-knower faculty, and they did not abandon the grief faculty.
