[1440] Whoever abandoned the faculty of grief (domanassindriya), will that one develop the faculty of perfect knowledge (aññindriya)?
Two persons abandoned the faculty of grief, but they will not develop the faculty of perfect knowledge; the non-returner (anāgāmī) both abandoned the faculty of grief and will develop the faculty of perfect knowledge.
Or rather, whoever will develop the faculty of perfect knowledge, did that one abandon the faculty of grief?
Six persons will develop the faculty of perfect knowledge, but they did not abandon the faculty of grief; the non-returner both will develop the faculty of perfect knowledge and abandoned the faculty of grief.
