[1445] One who did not fully understand (na parijānittha) the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) — will that one not abandon (nappajahissati) the grief faculty (domanassindriya)?
Five persons did not fully understand the eye faculty, but it is not that they will not abandon the grief faculty. Three persons both did not fully understand the eye faculty and will not abandon the grief faculty.
Or else, one who will not abandon the grief faculty — did that one not fully understand the eye faculty?
The Arahant (arahā) will not abandon the grief faculty, but it is not that he did not fully understand the eye faculty. Three persons both will not abandon the grief faculty and did not fully understand the eye faculty.
