[261] For whomever wholesome phenomena (kusalā dhammā) are not ceasing, will unwholesome phenomena (akusalā dhammā) not cease for that one?
For all [beings] at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind (citta) and at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of a mind dissociated from the wholesome (kusala-vippayutta-citta), for those attained to cessation (nirodhasamāpanna), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for these, wholesome phenomena are not ceasing, yet it is not the case that unwholesome phenomena will not cease for them. At the moment of arising of the highest path (aggamagga), for Arahants, and — for those who will obtain the highest path immediately after a given mind — at the moment of arising of that mind: for these, wholesome phenomena are not ceasing and unwholesome phenomena will not cease.
Or rather, for whomever unwholesome phenomena will not cease, are wholesome phenomena not ceasing for that one?
At the moment of dissolution of the highest path, and — for those who will obtain the highest path immediately after a given mind — at the moment of dissolution of that mind: for these, unwholesome phenomena will not cease, yet it is not the case that wholesome phenomena are not ceasing for them. At the moment of arising of the highest path, for Arahants, and — for those who will obtain the highest path immediately after a given mind — at the moment of arising of that mind: for these, unwholesome phenomena will not cease and wholesome phenomena are not ceasing.
