[361] For whomever, wherever, wholesome phenomena (kusalā dhammā) do not arise, will unwholesome phenomena (akusalā dhammā) not cease for that one there?
For all beings at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind (citta), and at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind dissociated from the wholesome (kusalavippayutta-citta): wholesome phenomena do not arise for them there, yet it is not the case that unwholesome phenomena will not cease for them there. At the moment of the dissolution of the highest path (aggamagga); for Arahants; for those who will obtain the highest path in immediate succession to a certain mind — at the moment of the dissolution of that mind; and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): wholesome phenomena do not arise for them there, and unwholesome phenomena will not cease.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, unwholesome phenomena will not cease, do wholesome phenomena not arise for that one there?
At the moment of the arising of the highest path, and for those who will obtain the highest path in immediate succession to a certain mind — at the moment of the arising of that mind: unwholesome phenomena will not cease for them there, yet it is not the case that wholesome phenomena do not arise for them there. At the moment of the dissolution of the highest path; for Arahants; for those who will obtain the highest path in immediate succession to a certain mind — at the moment of the dissolution of that mind; and for non-percipient beings: unwholesome phenomena will not cease for them there, and wholesome phenomena do not arise.
