[272] For whomever, wherever, wholesome phenomena (kusalā dhammā) have ceased, will unwholesome phenomena (akusalā dhammā) cease for that one there?
For those endowed with the highest path (aggamagga), for Arahants, and for those who will obtain the highest path in immediate succession to [the present] mind (citta): for them, there, wholesome phenomena have ceased, but unwholesome phenomena will not cease for them there. For the others — four-constituent (catuvokāra) and five-constituent (pañcavokāra) beings — for them, there, wholesome phenomena have ceased and unwholesome phenomena will cease.
Or, for whomever, wherever, unwholesome phenomena will cease, have wholesome phenomena ceased for that one there?
For those of the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa), while the second mind is occurring: for them, there, unwholesome phenomena will cease, but wholesome phenomena have not ceased for them there. For the others — four-constituent and five-constituent beings — for them, there, unwholesome phenomena will cease and wholesome phenomena have ceased.
