[403] Is the ear (sota) the ear faculty (sotindriya)? The divine ear (dibbasota) and the stream of craving (taṇhāsota) are sota but not the ear faculty; the ear faculty is both sota and the ear faculty. Are faculties (indriya) the eye faculty (cakkhundriya)? The eye faculty is both a faculty and the eye faculty; the remaining faculties are faculties but not the eye faculty. … Is the ear the ear faculty? The divine ear and the stream of craving are sota but not the ear faculty; the ear faculty is both sota and the ear faculty. Are faculties the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya)? The perfect-knower faculty is both a faculty and the perfect-knower faculty; the remaining faculties are faculties but not the perfect-knower faculty.
