[49] For whomever mind (citta) arises, has that one's mind ceased?
Yes.
Or, for whomever mind has ceased, does that one's mind arise?
For those at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind, for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpanna), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): their mind has ceased, but their mind does not arise. For those at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind: their mind both has ceased and arises.
For whomever mind does not arise, has that one's mind not ceased?
It has ceased.
Or, for whomever mind has not ceased, does that one's mind not arise?
There is none.
For whomever mind arises, will that one's mind cease?
Yes.
Or, for whomever mind will cease, does that one's mind arise?
For those at the moment of the dissolution of mind, for those who have attained cessation, and for non-percipient beings: their mind will cease, but their mind does not arise. For those at the moment of the arising of mind: their mind both will cease and arises.
For whomever mind does not arise, will that one's mind not cease?
For those at the moment of the dissolution of mind, for those who have attained cessation, and for non-percipient beings: their mind does not arise, yet it is not the case that their mind will not cease. For those at the moment of the dissolution of the final mind (pacchimacitta): their mind both does not arise and will not cease.
Or, for whomever mind will not cease, does that one's mind not arise?
Yes.
For whomever mind has arisen, will that one's mind cease?
For those at the moment of the dissolution of the final mind: their mind has arisen, but their mind will not cease. For the others: their mind both has arisen and will cease.
Or, for whomever mind will cease, has that one's mind arisen?
Yes.
For whomever mind has not arisen, will that one's mind not cease?
There is none.
Or, for whomever mind will not cease, has that one's mind not arisen?
It has arisen.
