[199] Bhikkhus, in this case incoming (āgantuka) bhikkhus see resident (āvāsika) bhikkhus who belong to a different communion (nānāsaṃvāsaka), yet they conceive the view that they belong to the same communion (samānasaṃvāsaka). Having conceived the view that they belong to the same communion, they do not ask; not having asked, they perform the Uposatha together: there is no offense (anāpatti). They ask; having asked, they do not resolve the matter; not having resolved it, they perform the Uposatha together: there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). They ask; having asked, they do not resolve the matter; not having resolved it, they perform the Uposatha separately: there is no offense.
