[238] Bhikkhus, here in a certain residence, on that day of the Pavāraṇā (invitation ceremony), several resident bhikkhus assemble — five or more. They do not know that other resident bhikkhus are entering within the boundary (sīmā) … They do not know that other resident bhikkhus have entered within the boundary … They do not see other resident bhikkhus entering within the boundary … They do not see other resident bhikkhus who have entered within the boundary … They do not hear that other resident bhikkhus are entering within the boundary … They do not hear that other resident bhikkhus have entered within the boundary.
By the method of the one hundred and seventy-five triads (tika) — residents with residents (āvāsikena āvāsikā), incomers with residents (āvāsikena āgantukā), residents with incomers (āgantukena āvāsikā), and incomers with incomers (āgantukena āgantukā) — by way of abbreviation (peyyāla) there come to be seven hundred triads.
