[1496] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is not clung to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniya) is a condition (paccaya), by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is clung to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya): adverting (āvajjanā) is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the five consciousnesses (viññāṇa); aggregates (khandhā) that are not clung to but subject to clinging are a condition, by immediacy condition, for emergence (vuṭṭhāna).
