[1727] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is defiled and subject to defilement (saṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition, by faculty condition (indriya-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is defiled and not subject to defilement (saṅkiliṭṭha-asaṅkilesika). (Three.)
A phenomenon that is undefiled but subject to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition, by faculty condition, for a phenomenon that is undefiled but subject to defilement: faculties (indriya) that are undefiled but subject to defilement are a condition, by faculty condition, for the associated aggregates (sampayuttakā khandhā) and for the forms originated by mind (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa). At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) is a condition, by faculty condition, for eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa), the body faculty (kāyindriya) for body-consciousness (kāya-viññāṇa); the material life faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) is a condition, by faculty condition, for the kamma-born forms (kaṭattā-rūpa).
