[495] An indeterminate (abyākata) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for an unwholesome phenomenon by way of object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya).
One relishes and delights in the eye; taking that as object, lust (rāga) arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises, doubt (vicikicchā) arises, restlessness (uddhacca) arises, grief (domanassa) arises. One relishes and delights in the ear … the nose, the tongue, the body, forms, sounds, odours, tastes, tangible objects (phoṭṭhabba), the base (vatthu) … the resultant-indeterminate and functional-indeterminate aggregates (khandha); taking that as object, lust arises, view arises, doubt arises, restlessness arises, grief arises.
