[617] An indeterminate (abyākata) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for an unwholesome phenomenon by presence condition (atthi-paccaya).
Prenascence (purejāta): One relishes and delights in the eye; with that as object, lust (rāga) arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises, doubt (vicikicchā) arises, restlessness (uddhacca) arises, grief (domanassa) arises. The ear … the nose, the tongue, the body, forms, sounds, odours, tastes, tangible objects … one relishes and delights in the base (vatthu); with that as object, lust arises … grief arises.
The base is a condition for the unwholesome aggregates (khandhā) by presence condition.
