[1738] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is undefiled but subject to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition, by presence condition (atthi-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is defiled and subject to defilement (saṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika).
Prenascence (purejāta): One relishes and delights in the eye; with that as object, lust (rāga) arises, grief (domanassa) arises. One relishes the base (vatthu); the base is a condition, by presence condition, for the aggregates (khandhā) that are defiled and subject to defilement.
