[1704] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is undefiled but subject to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition for a phenomenon that is undefiled but subject to defilement by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: One contemplates with insight the eye as impermanent, as suffering (dukkha), as not-self; the ear … the nose, the tongue, the body, forms, sounds, odours, tastes, tangible objects (phoṭṭhabba) … one contemplates with insight the base (vatthu) as impermanent, as suffering, as not-self; one sees a form with the divine eye; one hears a sound with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu). The form base (rūpāyatana) is prenascent to eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) to body-consciousness.
Base-prenascence: The eye base (cakkhāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness, and the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness, by prenascence condition. The base is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) that are undefiled but subject to defilement by prenascence condition.
