[1705] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is undefiled but subject to defilement (asaṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) is a condition for a phenomenon that is defiled and subject to defilement (saṅkiliṭṭha-saṅkilesika) by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: One relishes and delights in the eye; taking that as object, lust (rāga) arises, grief (domanassa) arises. The ear … … tangible objects (phoṭṭhabba) … one relishes and delights in the base (vatthu); taking that as object, lust arises, grief arises.
Base-prenascence: The base is a condition for the aggregates (khandhā) that are defiled and subject to defilement by prenascence condition.
