[1263] A phenomenon (dhamma) of the trainee (sekkha) is a condition for a phenomenon that is neither of the trainee nor of the adept (nevasekkhanāsekkha) by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: The noble ones (ariyā), in dependence on the path, give rise to the attainment (samāpatti) that has not yet arisen, enter upon [the attainment] that has arisen, contemplate with insight formations (saṅkhārā) as impermanent … The path is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for the noble ones' discrimination of meaning (attha-paṭisambhidā), discrimination of ideas (dhamma-paṭisambhidā), discrimination of language (nirutti-paṭisambhidā), discrimination of sagacity (paṭibhāṇa-paṭisambhidā), and skill in the possible and the impossible (ṭhānāṭhāna-kosalla). The fruition attainment (phala-samāpatti) that is of the trainee is a condition for bodily pleasure by decisive-support condition.
