[1898] An arisen phenomenon (uppanna dhamma) is a condition for an arisen phenomenon by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: In dependence on arisen climate (utu), one produces jhāna, insight (vipassanā) … the path (magga) … superknowledge (abhiññā) … attainment (samāpatti) …; one gives rise to conceit (māna), grasps a view (diṭṭhi). In dependence on arisen food (bhojana) … lodging (senāsana), one produces jhāna, insight … the path … superknowledge … attainment …; one gives rise to conceit, grasps a view. Arisen climate … food … lodging is a condition for arisen faith (saddhā), for wisdom (paññā), for bodily pleasure (kāyika sukha), for bodily pain (kāyika dukkha), for the path, for the attainment of fruition (phala-samāpatti), by decisive-support condition.
