[2034] In dependence on an external phenomenon (bahiddhā dhamma), an external phenomenon arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya):
In dependence on one external aggregate (khandha), three aggregates and mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) arise; in dependence on two aggregates … At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), in dependence on one external aggregate, three aggregates and kamma-born materiality (kaṭattā-rūpa) arise; in dependence on two aggregates, two aggregates arise; in dependence on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) arises; in dependence on the base, the aggregates arise; in dependence on one primary element (mahābhūta), three primary elements arise; in dependence on the primary elements, mind-originated materiality and kamma-born materiality that are derived materiality (upādā-rūpa) arise.
