[489] A phenomenon accompanied by rapture (pītisahagata dhamma) is a condition for a phenomenon accompanied by equanimity (upekkhāsahagata dhamma) by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya):
Having, with a mind (citta) accompanied by rapture, given a gift (dāna), undertaken virtue (sīla), and performed the Uposatha observance (uposatha-kamma), one reviews that with a mind accompanied by equanimity.
Having emerged from a jhāna accompanied by rapture, having emerged from the path (magga), having emerged from fruition (phala), one reviews that with a mind accompanied by equanimity.
Noble ones (ariyā), with a mind accompanied by equanimity, review the abandoned defilements (kilesa) accompanied by rapture; they review the suppressed defilements; they know the defilements formerly indulged in.
With a mind accompanied by equanimity, one sees with insight the aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by rapture as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as not-self (anattā); one relishes them; one delights in them. With that as object, lust (rāga) accompanied by equanimity arises; view (diṭṭhi) arises; doubt (vicikicchā) arises; restlessness (uddhacca) arises.
By the knowledge that encompasses the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa), one knows the mind of one possessed of a mind accompanied by rapture.
The aggregates accompanied by rapture are a condition for the knowledge that encompasses the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of beings' faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa), and for adverting (āvajjanā), by object condition.
With the aggregates accompanied by rapture as object, aggregates accompanied by equanimity arise.
