[672] A phenomenon (dhamma) to be abandoned by development (bhāvanāya pahātabba) is a condition, by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon to be abandoned by seeing (dassanena pahātabba).
One relishes and delights in lust (rāga) that is to be abandoned by development; taking that as object, lust to be abandoned by seeing arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises, doubt (vicikicchā) arises, grief (domanassa) to be abandoned by seeing arises. Taking restlessness (uddhacca) as object, wrong view arises, doubt arises, grief to be abandoned by seeing arises. Taking grief that is to be abandoned by development as object, grief to be abandoned by seeing arises, wrong view arises, doubt arises.
