[869] A phenomenon (dhamma) whose root is to be abandoned neither by seeing (dassana) nor by mental development (bhāvanā) arises conjoined (saṃsaṭṭha) with a phenomenon whose root is to be abandoned by seeing, not by root condition (na-hetupaccayā): delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), conjoined with the aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by doubt.
