[997] A phenomenon having a root to be abandoned by mental development (bhāvanāya pahātabbahetuko dhammo) is a condition, by way of object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon having a root to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by mental development (nevadassanena-nabhāvanāya pahātabbahetuko dhammo); it is a condition by way of connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya); it is a condition by way of decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya); it is a condition by way of postnascence condition (pacchājāta-paccaya).
