[114] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a root (hetu) and accompanied by roots (sahetuka) is a condition for a phenomenon that is both a root and accompanied by roots by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya): the preceding roots are a condition for the subsequent roots by immediacy condition.
A phenomenon that is both a root and accompanied by roots is a condition for a phenomenon that is accompanied by roots but not a root (na ca hetu) by immediacy condition: the preceding roots are a condition for the subsequent aggregates (khandhā) that are accompanied by roots but not roots by immediacy condition.
A phenomenon that is both a root and accompanied by roots is a condition for a phenomenon that is both a root and accompanied by roots and for a phenomenon that is accompanied by roots but not a root by immediacy condition: the preceding roots are a condition for the subsequent roots and the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates by immediacy condition.
