[2] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is a root (hetu), a phenomenon that is a root arises by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya): Discarding form (rūpa), [there are] the nine questions (pañhā) only in the immaterial (arūpa). By predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): there is no rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi); [the section is] complete. Dependent on one primary element (mahābhūta) … dependent on the primary elements, [there arises] mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa), derivative materiality (upādā-rūpa) — this is the difference. By immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya): by contiguity condition (samanantara-paccaya): by connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya): all the primary elements, as far as the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā). By mutuality condition (aññamañña-paccaya): by dependence condition (nissaya-paccaya): by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): by repetition condition (āsevana-paccaya): in both [of these], there is no rebirth-linking. By kamma condition (kamma-paccaya): by kamma-result condition (vipāka-paccaya). Abbreviated. By non-disappearance condition (avigata-paccaya).
