[220] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) with impingement (sappaṭigha), a phenomenon with impingement arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya): dependent on one primary element (mahābhūta) with impingement, two primary elements [arise]; dependent on two primary elements, one …; dependent on the primary elements with impingement, mind-originated matter (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) and kamma-born matter (kaṭattārūpa) that are derived matter (upādārūpa), with impingement, [arise]; dependent on the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana), the eye base (cakkhāyatana) and the flavour base (rasāyatana) [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon with impingement, a phenomenon without impingement (appaṭigha) arises by root condition: dependent on the primary elements with impingement, the water element (āpodhātu) [arises]; dependent on the primary elements with impingement, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, without impingement, [arise]; dependent on the tangible-object base, the water element, the femininity faculty (itthindriya), and edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon with impingement, phenomena with impingement and without impingement arise by root condition: dependent on one primary element with impingement, two primary elements and the water element [arise]; dependent on two primary elements …; dependent on the primary elements with impingement, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, both with impingement and without impingement, [arise]; dependent on the tangible-object base, the eye base, the flavour base, the water element, the femininity faculty, and edible nutriment [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon without impingement, a phenomenon without impingement arises by root condition: dependent on one aggregate (khandha) without impingement, three aggregates and mind-originated matter without impingement [arise]; dependent on two aggregates …; at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), dependent on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) [arises]; dependent on the base, the aggregates [arise]; dependent on the water element, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, without impingement, [arise]; dependent on the water element, the femininity faculty and edible nutriment [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon without impingement, a phenomenon with impingement arises by root condition: dependent on the aggregates without impingement, mind-originated matter with impingement [arises]; at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the water element, the primary elements with impingement [arise]; dependent on the water element, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, with impingement, [arise]; dependent on the water element, the eye base and the tangible-object base [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon without impingement, phenomena with impingement and without impingement arise by root condition: dependent on one aggregate without impingement, three aggregates and mind-originated matter both with impingement and without impingement [arise]; dependent on two aggregates …; at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the water element, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, both with impingement and without impingement, [arise]; dependent on the water element, the eye base, the tangible-object base, the femininity faculty, and edible nutriment [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon with impingement and a phenomenon without impingement, a phenomenon with impingement arises by root condition: dependent on the aggregates with impingement and the primary elements, mind-originated matter with impingement [arises]; at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on one primary element with impingement and the water element, two primary elements [arise]; dependent on the primary elements with impingement and the water element, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, with impingement, [arise]; dependent on the tangible-object base and the water element, the eye base and the flavour base [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon with impingement and a phenomenon without impingement, a phenomenon without impingement arises by root condition: dependent on the aggregates with impingement and the primary elements, mind-originated matter without impingement [arises]; at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the aggregates without impingement and the primary elements, kamma-born matter without impingement [arises]; dependent on the tangible-object base and the water element, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, without impingement, [arise]; dependent on the tangible-object base and the water element, the femininity faculty and edible nutriment [arise]. Dependent on a phenomenon with impingement and a phenomenon without impingement, phenomena with impingement and without impingement arise by root condition: dependent on the aggregates without impingement and the primary elements, mind-originated matter both with impingement and without impingement [arises]; at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the aggregates without impingement and the primary elements, kamma-born matter both with impingement and without impingement [arises]; dependent on the tangible-object base and the water element, mind-originated matter and kamma-born matter that are derived matter, both with impingement and without impingement, [arise]; dependent on the tangible-object base and the water element, the eye base, the flavour base, the femininity faculty, and edible nutriment [arise].
