[728] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is misapprehended (parāmaṭṭha) but not a misapprehension (parāmāsa) is a condition, by way of root condition (hetu-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is misapprehended but not a misapprehension:
That is, roots (hetū) that are misapprehended but not misapprehensions are a condition, by way of root condition, for the associated aggregates (sampayuttakā khandhā) and for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa). Rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi).
A phenomenon that is misapprehended but not a misapprehension is a condition, by way of root condition, for a phenomenon that is both a misapprehension and misapprehended:
That is, roots that are misapprehended but not misapprehensions are a condition, by way of root condition, for misapprehension.
