Cittasaṁpayuttaduka

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (4) · Vol. 43 · Section 119

[119] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) associated with mind (cittasampayutta), a phenomenon associated with mind arises, not by root condition (na-hetupaccayā): dependent on one rootless (ahetuka) aggregate (khandha) associated with mind, two aggregates [arise]; dependent on two aggregates … At the moment of rootless rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), dependent on the aggregates accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca), there arises the delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness. Thus all nine questions should be worked out; in every case the qualification "rootless" should be specified; only the single delusion-root (mohamūla) is to be filled in.
