[127] With a phenomenon associated with mind (citta-sampayutta dhamma) as condition, there arises a phenomenon associated with mind, not by root condition (na-hetupaccayā): three [questions], similar to [those of] the dependence [chapter] (paṭicca).
With a phenomenon dissociated from mind (citta-vippayutta dhamma) as condition, there arises a phenomenon dissociated from mind, not by root condition: one great element (mahābhūta), up to the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā).
With a phenomenon dissociated from mind as condition, there arises a phenomenon associated with mind, not by root condition: with the eye base (cakkhāyatana) as condition, the aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa); the body base (kāyāyatana) …; with the base (vatthu) as condition, the rootless (ahetuka) aggregates associated with mind; [likewise at] rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi); with the base as condition, delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca).
With a phenomenon dissociated from mind as condition, there arise a phenomenon associated with mind and a phenomenon dissociated from mind, not by root condition: with the base as condition, the rootless aggregates associated with mind; with the great elements as condition, mind-originated form (rūpa); [likewise at] rebirth-linking.
With a phenomenon associated with mind and a phenomenon dissociated from mind as condition, there arises a phenomenon associated with mind, not by root condition: with one aggregate accompanied by eye-consciousness and the eye base as condition, two aggregates [arise]; with two aggregates … with one aggregate accompanied by body-consciousness (kāya-viññāṇa) and the body base as condition …; with one rootless aggregate associated with mind and the base as condition, two aggregates [arise]; with two aggregates …; [likewise] at the moment of rootless rebirth-linking; with the aggregates accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness, and the base as condition, delusion accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness.
In this way the two questions should be done, with [both] occurrence (pavatti) and rebirth-linking. Abbreviated.
