Cittasaṅsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhānduka

[231] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) conjoined with and originated by mind (cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhāna), a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya): … (Abridged.) The three [cases] are similar to those in the paṭicca[-vāra]. Dependent on a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind (no-cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhāna), a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind arises by root condition: dependent on mind (citta), mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) [arises]; dependent on the base (vatthu), mind [arises]; at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), [and so on] as far as the primary elements (mahābhūtā). Dependent on a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind, a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind arises by root condition: dependent on mind, the associated aggregates (sampayuttakā khandhā) [arise]; dependent on the base, the aggregates conjoined with and originated by mind [arise]. At the moment of rebirth-linking, both [cases] are to be done. Dependent on a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind and on a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind, a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind arises by root condition: dependent on one aggregate conjoined with and originated by mind and on mind, two aggregates [arise]; [dependent on] two aggregates … ; dependent on one aggregate conjoined with and originated by mind and on the base, two aggregates [arise]; [dependent on] two aggregates … . At the moment of rebirth-linking, both [cases] are to be done. Dependent on a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind and on a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind, a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind arises by root condition: dependent on the aggregates conjoined with and originated by mind and on mind, form not conjoined with and originated by mind [arises]; dependent on the aggregates conjoined with and originated by mind and on the primary elements, form not conjoined with and originated by mind [arises]; dependent on the aggregates conjoined with and originated by mind and on the base, mind [arises]. At the moment of rebirth-linking, all three [cases] are to be done. Dependent on a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind and on a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind, a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind and a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind arise by root condition: dependent on one aggregate conjoined with and originated by mind and on mind, two aggregates and form conjoined with and originated by mind [arise]; [dependent on] two aggregates … ; dependent on one aggregate conjoined with and originated by mind and on the base, two aggregates and mind [arise]; [dependent on] two aggregates … .
