[24] A phenomenon with an object (sārammaṇa) is a condition, by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya), for a phenomenon with an object: object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya) … Natural decisive-support: in dependence on faith (saddhā), one gives a gift (dāna), gives rise to conceit (māna), grasps a view (diṭṭhi); in dependence on virtue (sīla) … wisdom (paññā), aspiration (patthanā), bodily pleasure (kāyika sukha) … bodily pain (kāyika dukkha), one gives a gift … causes an attainment (samāpatti) to arise, kills a living being … causes schism in the Saṅgha. Faith … wisdom, lust (rāga) … aspiration, bodily pleasure … bodily pain is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for faith, for lust, for aspiration, for bodily pleasure, for bodily pain, for the path (magga), for the attainment of fruition (phala-samāpatti). A phenomenon without an object (anārammaṇa) is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for a phenomenon with an object: object decisive-support, proximity decisive-support, natural decisive-support … Natural decisive-support: in dependence on season (utu) … food (bhojana) … lodging (senāsana), one gives a gift, causes an attainment to arise, kills a living being, causes schism in the Saṅgha.
