[25] A phenomenon without an object (anārammaṇo dhammo) is a condition for a phenomenon with an object (sārammaṇo dhammo) by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: [one contemplates] the eye (cakkhu) … the base (vatthu) as impermanent … grief (domanassa) arises; one sees a form (rūpa) with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu), one hears a sound (sadda) with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu); the form base (rūpāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa).
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness, the body base (kāyāyatana) for body-consciousness; the base is a condition for the aggregates with an object (sārammaṇā khandhā) by prenascence condition.
