[1594] A phenomenon with a limited object (parittārammaṇo dhammo) is a condition for a phenomenon with a limited object by connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya); it is a condition by mutuality condition (aññamañña-paccaya); it is a condition by dependence condition (nissaya-paccaya). The three are to be done in the same way as in the Dependence Chapter (paṭiccavāra).
Under decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: In dependence on faith (saddhā) with a limited object, one gives a gift (dāna); virtue (sīla) …; the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) …; one gives rise to jhāna with a limited object; insight (vipassanā) …; superknowledge (abhiññā) …; one gives rise to an attainment (samāpatti); one arouses conceit (māna); one grasps a view (diṭṭhi).
In dependence on virtue with a limited object …, on wisdom (paññā), lust (rāga), hatred (dosa), delusion (moha), conceit, view, longing (patthanā), bodily pleasure (kāyika sukha) …, bodily pain (kāyika dukkha), one gives a gift; virtue …; the uposatha observance …; one gives rise to jhāna with a limited object; insight …; superknowledge …; one gives rise to an attainment; one kills a living being; one causes a schism in the Saṅgha.
Faith with a limited object …, wisdom, lust, longing, bodily pleasure …, bodily pain are a condition for faith with a limited object, for wisdom, for lust, for longing, for bodily pleasure, for bodily pain by decisive-support condition.
