[1113] A phenomenon (dhamma) leading to accumulation (ācayagāmī) is a condition for a phenomenon leading to accumulation by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: In dependence on faith (saddhā) leading to accumulation, one gives a gift (dāna); virtue (sīla) … the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) … jhāna … insight (vipassanā) … superknowledge (abhiññā) … one gives rise to an attainment (samāpatti); one cherishes conceit (māna); one grasps a view (diṭṭhi).
In dependence on virtue leading to accumulation … learning (suta), generosity (cāga), wisdom (paññā), lust (rāga), hatred (dosa), delusion (moha), conceit, view … aspiration (patthanā), one gives a gift; virtue … the uposatha observance … jhāna … insight … superknowledge … an attainment …; one kills a living being; one causes schism in the Saṅgha.
Faith leading to accumulation … wisdom, lust … aspiration is a condition for faith leading to accumulation, for wisdom, for lust, for aspiration, by decisive-support condition.
The preliminary work (parikamma) for the first jhāna is a condition for the first jhāna by decisive-support condition. … The preliminary work for the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana) is a condition for the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception by decisive-support condition.
