A phenomenon without an object (anārammaṇa dhamma) is a condition, by faculty condition, for a phenomenon without an object: the material life faculty (rūpajīvitindriya) is a condition, by faculty condition, for the kinds of kamma-born materiality (kaṭattārūpa).
A phenomenon without an object is a condition, by faculty condition, for a phenomenon with an object: the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) is a condition, by faculty condition, for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa); the body faculty (kāyindriya), for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa).
A phenomenon with an object and a phenomenon without an object are a condition, by faculty condition, for a phenomenon with an object: the eye faculty and eye-consciousness are a condition, by faculty condition, for the aggregates (khandha) accompanied by eye-consciousness; the body faculty and body-consciousness are a condition, by faculty condition, for the aggregates accompanied by body-consciousness.
