[351] Dependent on a clung-to phenomenon (upādinna dhamma), a clung-to phenomenon arises, not by faculty condition (na indriya-paccayā): for the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), dependent on the primary elements (mahābhūta), the material life-faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) [arises]. Dependent on a not-clung-to phenomenon (anupādinna dhamma), a not-clung-to phenomenon arises, not by faculty condition: external [matter] (bāhira) … nutriment-originated (āhārasamuṭṭhāna) … temperature-originated (utusamuṭṭhāna) … …
