[375] A clung-to (upādinna) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for a clung-to phenomenon by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya): object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: [one contemplates] the eye … the body, clung-to forms, odours, tangibles … the base (vatthu) as impermanent … grief (domanassa) … When the wholesome and the unwholesome have ceased, the resultant (vipāka) arises as registration (tadārammaṇatā). The clung-to form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa); the odour base … the tangible base, for body-consciousness.
Base-prenascence: the eye base (cakkhāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness; the body base, for body-consciousness; the base is a condition for the clung-to aggregates (khandhā) by prenascence condition.
A clung-to phenomenon is a condition for a not-clung-to (anupādinna) phenomenon by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: [one contemplates] the eye … the body, clung-to forms, odours, tastes, tangibles … the base as impermanent … grief arises. With the divine eye one sees a clung-to form.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition for the not-clung-to aggregates by prenascence condition.
A not-clung-to phenomenon is a condition for a not-clung-to phenomenon by prenascence condition:
Object-prenascence: [one contemplates] not-clung-to forms … sounds … odours … tangibles as impermanent … grief arises. With the divine eye one sees a not-clung-to form; with the divine ear element (sota-dhātu) one hears a sound.
A not-clung-to phenomenon is a condition for a clung-to phenomenon by prenascence condition:
Object-prenascence: [one contemplates] not-clung-to forms … odours … tangibles as impermanent … grief arises. When the wholesome and the unwholesome have ceased, the resultant arises as registration. The not-clung-to form base is a condition for eye-consciousness; the sound base … the tangible base, for body-consciousness, by prenascence condition; the base is a condition for the clung-to aggregates by prenascence condition.
A clung-to phenomenon and a not-clung-to phenomenon are a condition for a clung-to phenomenon by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
The not-clung-to form base and the base, and the tangible base and the base, are a condition for the clung-to aggregates by prenascence condition; the not-clung-to form base and the eye base are a condition for eye-consciousness; the sound base … the tangible base and the body base, for body-consciousness, by prenascence condition.
A clung-to phenomenon and a not-clung-to phenomenon are a condition for a not-clung-to phenomenon by prenascence condition: object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
The not-clung-to form base and the base, and the tangible base and the base, are a condition for the not-clung-to aggregates by prenascence condition.
