[432] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) associated with clinging (upādāna-sampayutta), there arises a phenomenon associated with clinging, not by kamma condition (na kammapaccayā): dependent on the aggregates (khandha) associated with clinging, [there arises] the associated volition (cetanā).
Dependent on a phenomenon dissociated from clinging (upādāna-vippayutta), there arises a phenomenon dissociated from clinging, not by kamma condition: dependent on the aggregates dissociated from clinging, [there arises] the associated volition; external (bāhira) … originated by nutriment (āhāra-samuṭṭhāna) … originated by temperature (utu-samuṭṭhāna) … .
Dependent on a phenomenon dissociated from clinging, there arises a phenomenon associated with clinging, not by kamma condition: dependent on greed (lobha) dissociated from views (diṭṭhigata-vippayutta), [there arises] the associated volition.
