[467] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both clinging (upādāna) and associated with clinging (upādānasampayutta) is a condition, by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is both clinging and associated with clinging: three (ways).
A phenomenon that is associated with clinging but not clinging is a condition, by predominance condition, for a phenomenon that is associated with clinging but not clinging: object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati), conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati) — three (ways) as well.
In all three (ways), both (kinds of) predominance should be applied. In the combinations (ghaṭanā), predominance too has three (ways).
