Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (3) · Vol. 42 · Section 410

[410] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a taint (āsava) and associated with taints is a condition (paccaya), by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is both a taint and associated with taints: three (sections). A phenomenon that is associated with taints but not a taint is a condition, by object condition, for a phenomenon that is associated with taints but not a taint: taking as object the aggregates (khandhā) that are associated with taints but not taints, there arise aggregates that are associated with taints but not taints. A phenomenon that is associated with taints but not a taint is a condition, by object condition, for a phenomenon that is both a taint and associated with taints: taking as object the aggregates that are associated with taints but not taints, there arise taints. A phenomenon that is associated with taints but not a taint is a condition, by object condition, for a phenomenon that is both a taint and associated with taints and for a phenomenon that is associated with taints but not a taint: taking as object the aggregates that are associated with taints but not taints, there arise taints and the aggregates associated with taints. A phenomenon that is both a taint and associated with taints, and a phenomenon that is associated with taints but not a taint, are a condition, by object condition, for a phenomenon that is both a taint and associated with taints: three (sections). … Under the predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya) [the sections] are similar to those of the object condition, with an esteemed object (garukārammaṇa). Under the immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya) they are just similar to those of the object condition; they should be done as "the preceding, the preceding [states]." Under the contiguity condition (samanantara-paccaya), the connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya), the mutuality condition (aññamañña-paccaya), the dependence condition (nissaya-paccaya), and the decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya) they are just similar to those of the object condition; there is no analysis (vibhajanā): three (sections). The decisive support should be done in its entirety.
