[345] A phenomenon that is a taint (āsava) is a condition for a phenomenon that is a taint by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): having esteemed the taints, taints arise. Three [cases]. They should be treated as similar to [those under] the object [condition], with the object made esteemed.
A phenomenon that is not a taint is a condition for a phenomenon that is not a taint by predominance condition: object-predominance, conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati). Object-predominance: giving (dāna) … virtue (sīla) … the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) … formerly … the noble ones, from the path, … the fruition (phala) … having esteemed Nibbāna … Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for purification (vodāna), for the path, and for the fruition by predominance condition. The eye … the base (vatthu) … having esteemed the aggregates that are not taints, one relishes and delights in them; having esteemed that, lust (rāga) arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises. Conascence-predominance: … the predominance that is not a taint is a condition for the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates and for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by predominance condition.
