[596] A hindrance (nīvaraṇa) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for a hindrance phenomenon by predominance condition (adhipati-paccaya): object-predominance (ārammaṇādhipati): having given weight to hindrances, hindrances arise. The three [cases] are similar to the object [condition] (ārammaṇa).
A non-hindrance (no-nīvaraṇa) phenomenon is a condition for a non-hindrance phenomenon by predominance condition: object-predominance, conascence-predominance (sahajātādhipati). Object-predominance: a gift (dāna) … virtue (sīla) … having performed the uposatha observance (uposathakamma), having given weight to it, one reviews it, relishes it, delights in it; having given weight to it, lust (rāga) arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises. What was formerly well practised … from jhāna … The noble ones, having emerged from the path, the path … the fruition … Nibbāna … Nibbāna is a condition for change-of-lineage (gotrabhū), for cleansing (vodāna), for the path, for the fruition, by predominance condition. The eye … the base (vatthu) … having given weight to the non-hindrance aggregates (khandha), one relishes and delights in them; having given weight to that, lust arises, view arises. Conascence-predominance: non-hindrance predominance is a condition for the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates and for mind-originated matter (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by predominance condition.
